My name is Wesley and I believe “sports isn’t always the best way to grow”. Strange quote coming from a personal trainer isn’t it? I have a strong belief that true life improvement, no matter in what area of life, can only be achieved coming from a good balance in life. This also counts for physical activities. Physical performance can only be enhanced when there’s enough attention for recovering and enjoyment.
As a personal trainer I offer you a total package that will help you to be able to move forward from the heart. The idea is that you can train whenever you feel like it throughout Amsterdam with just one card.
Next to this, I help people with their choices through coaching and helping with personal goals like losing weight or gaining more muscle.

I’m a specialist in teaching different kinds of sports and have a degree in Personal Nutrition.

The biggest obstacle is to pronounce it properly but if you get the hang of it you will love it!

Calisthenics is for everyone and even if you can not do one pull-up! You got to start somewhere and there are plenty of way’s to grow.
This sport has become a generic term for all exercises performed using only your own body weight or with minimal equipment like for example the “Bar”.

During these lessons the kids will learn how to jump over objects, do cartwheels and even back-flips! I also integrate multiple games like ball- and teamwork-games so kids develop not only their body movement but also a team-based way of thinking.

Whatever your goal is, it’s important to make a good plan together. During the intake we will go into what your goals are and we put together a realistic plan. From this plan, we go every week to work on your personal goals.

– Carefully selected training programs based on personal and objectives
– Measurement of body weight and calculation of BMI
– Customized training programs during your business trip or vacation

The intake is FREE

Note: Training will be arranged for a minimum of 10 weeks. Measurable results can not be achieved previously.

In this society, it is expected of us that we are always busy and doing many things at once. But sometimes it is good to stop and see where we are right now and be able to enjoy and appreciate the situation as it is. Therefore Life Improvement is looking to work closely with meditation schools so that people who are rocking it in life also have a moment to really breathe deeply.

Tip

What really helped me through some of my darker days was a book from the writer Eckhart Tolle named The Power Of Now.
I recommend this to anyone who’s looking for more fulfillment.

And how is it now? If you are really happy with all of it and things look perfect, you don’t need a life coach. Unfortunately for many of us, this is not the case, and life coaching may be the way to put things back on track.

In a first life coaching session, clients often are asked to look at their idea of a perfect life – and it may be that in many areas, this has been achieved.

Commonly, life coaches will want you to examine several critical life areas, such as health, work and career, relationships, spirituality, and financial status, and evaluate how you feel about them. Once the low-scoring areas—the ones that need attention—have been identified, coaches examine the client’s goals, strengths and weaknesses, and any blocks or challenges that might be in the way of achieving change. Then they can set goals which identify the client’s desired outcomes, and identify strategies to achieve them.

Wesley Kalkhoven

Opgroeiend in de vrije natuur rond het dorpje Soest is Wesley Kalkhoven (29) al vanaf jonge leeftijd bezig met hardlopen, vecht- en teamsporten. In 2008 behaalde hij zijn diploma als Sport Coördinator. Gedurende zijn opleiding verzorgde hij trainingen voor de crème de la crème van de geüniformeerde beroepen. Van de Commandos tot de Luchtmobielbrigade en het Politie Korps. Op zijn 25ste vertrok hij naar Amsterdam. De stap naar Politie en Defensie was vanzelfsprekend.

Na enkele jaren werkzaam geweest te zijn bij de politie, begon er iets te knagen. Tot dan toe was alles als vanzelfsprekend gegaan. Maar ineens zag Wesley het niet meer zitten. Hij miste zijn flow en verloor zichzelf in Crossfit – een zeer zware krachtsport – door elke keer over zijn eigen grenzen te gaan. Zware trainingen maakten zijn hoofd (tijdelijk) leeg, maar het mocht niet baten: Wesley werd depressief. Hij stopte bij de politie, had geen identiteit meer en moest zijn hele leven opnieuw evalueren.

Hij ontkwam er niet aan zich te verdiepen in zelfontwikkeling. En mede dankzij de hulp van een Life Coach kreeg het leven weer een beetje kleur. Yoga en meditatie trokken Wesley uit een diep dal en er ontwaakte een nieuwe passie. Hij zocht naar een manier van bewegen waarin hij zijn nieuwe inzichten als mens kon combineren met flinke fysieke inspanning. Er moest aandacht zijn voor teamspirit, focus en een gezonde balans tussen kracht en ontspanning, waarbij genoeg energie overblijft om andere dingen te kunnen doen. Het leven draait immers niet alleen maar om sporten.

Wesley vond Calisthenics: een vorm van sport waarbij het trainen met eigen lichaamsgewicht en de behendigheid centraal staan. Zie het als een rauwe, straatvariant van turnen. In het park hing hij voor het eerst in de (klim)rekken. Hoewel hij op koude winterdagen vaak alleen in de buitenlucht stond, leerde hij gaande weg toch een hele hoop nieuwe mensen kennen. Het duurde dan ook niet lang voor hij bij zijn vrienden dezelfde behoefde ontdekte: weg van de spiegels in de sportschool en lekker aan de stangen hangen, zwetend met een glimlach. Met deze gedachte in het achterhoofd kwam Wesley tot een aantal kernwaardes waarmee hij andere mensen wilt enthousiasmeren en de zelfde ervaring wil delen:
